CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS
This event will deliver 0ver $2M into the local economy and bring new tourists to the region. But we understand that road closures impact the local community, Cairns Airport transfers, tourism operators, travelling tourists, businesses and all road users. Our aim is to minimise this impact as much as possible and ensure we open roads on schedule.
Access into and out of Port Douglas via Davidson Street and Port Douglas Road will be maintained all morning. From 6:00am until 9:00am it will be down to single direction traffic, so expect some delays.
PORT DOUGLAS (Saturday 5 September 2026)
Thank you to the residents of Clubhouse Dr/Cascade Dr who have agreed to allow vehicles to access the Palmer Sea Reef Golf Club during the 3hr closure. If you need to depart your property between 6:45am – 10am on Saturday 5 September there are a few options available:
- Park overnight on Friday 4 Sept in Nautilus St between the corner of Mitre St and Reef St (Blue line side). Traffic controllers will help provide access out via Conch St, Pecten Ave and onto Barrier St. Expect delays until there is a break in the runners.
- Park overnight on Friday 4 Sept in the Palmer Sea Reef Golf Club carpark and traffic controllers will provide access to Old Port Rd (south) via Clubhouse Dr/Cascade Dr and Downing St. No delays expected.
- Traffic controllers will manage traffic exiting Mitre St to provide access to Conch St, Pecten Ave and onto Barrier St. They will also manage access into Mitre St via the same access point. Expect delays until there is a break in the runners.
- Call us on 0455 261 555 and we will send one of our team to provide an escort to the closest exit on the course. Expect delays until one of our team can make their way to your property.
