The 21.1km Half Marathon starts on Wharf Street, Port Douglas, in front of the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina. Runners will do a 2.2km loop around The Port Douglas Sports Complex before passing the start line on the opposite side of the road as the 10km runners wait for their start under the start arch.
This is to warm the legs up for the run up Flagstaff Hill, up to the most photographed point in Port Douglas; the lookout over Four Mile Beach. The view from the top will be worth the 750mtr run up the hill!
Then, it’s time to return to Macrossan Street before arriving at the Esplanade running alongside the beautiful Four Mile Beach. The course will take you through a few back streets before turning left onto Port Douglas Road. The main road into Port Douglas will be divided into three lanes to allow locals to access Port Douglas still and provide our runners with a safe route as they head away from town.
After passing the sensational Sheraton Resort on your left, you will continue on Port Douglas Road before turning left into Barrier Street. You will follow this around as it turns into Reef Street until you turn right into Nautilus Street, heading up the right side of the road. This is the start of a 3.2km loop that you will do twice.
